Tech Tip: Add Page Appeal Using Pull Quotes and Tables

One way to generate interest on your page is by using "pull quotes."  These are key points in your page that are pulled out, or emphasized, to draw attention and add visual contrast and style.  Often, these quotes will be in bold, bright colors, or have a heading style assigned so that the text is larger.

You can put the quote inside of a table aligned to the left or right with no border so that the quote text appears to be "floating" to either side of the page's content.

Here is an example:

The simplest way to do this is through the following steps:
  • Place your cursor at the beginning of the line of text where you want the table/pull quote to start
  • Click the "Insert/Edit Table" button on the editor toolbar
  • Make the table have 1 row and 1 column and set its alignment to right or left depending on your needs
  • Set the border value to "0" if you want the quote to look like it's floating
  • Increase the cell spacing and cell padding values to allow for space around the quote so that it doesn't touch the surrounding text
  • Click OK to create the table
  • Type your quote into the table
  • Save and you're finished!
